guess what!?!?

I have 92 followers!!! That's almost 100!!!! Thanks to all of y'all for making the past ten months so much fun! Blogging just wouldn't be the same without y'all.

School is still going strong and I'm enjoying it....but I am still looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas :P Spanish is demanding, but I've learned a lot already and my class is terrific. We have the cutest little class pet/mascot, whatever you want to call him. We named him "Fernando". Here he is:

If you raise your hand to answer a question or to volunteer for something, our profesor will toss you either Fernando or the ball of power (which is a little beanie soccer ball). The boys inevitably choose the ball, while us girls prefer Fernando. I got tossed Nando yesterday, and he got to sit on my desk for most of the class (mainly because everyone forgot about him :P)

Well, those are my random musing for the day. :) Time to slog back into school.

Love y'all!

p.s. The playlist is back! I took it down because I didn't want to annoy people with it on AutoPlay...but then I started missing it myself :) So it's back, but you have to hit the "Play" button to start it. That way you can choose whether you want music or not :)

{so, what are you going to do about it?}

Last night, Dad was up late working at the kitchen table. Mama was in town with her "ladies group" and we were all in bed. (this was about 10:30pm or so). Dad's working away on his laptop, when, all of a sudden, in walks Titty. Needless to say, Dad was surprised. Before he could say anything, Titty said in a distressed voice,

"The vacuum bag is missing! It's not in the vacuum!"

Dad looked at her and realized she was sleep walking. He asked her, "So what are you going do about it?"

"I don't know!"

"Why don't you just go back to bed?"

Titty nodded and replied, "Okay." then turned around and went back up to bed.

Dad told Mama when she got home, and this morning she told us (Dad's on a day trip). We were laughing so hard that tears were starting in our eyes (even Titty!)!!! She was our first sleep walker :) Funny thing was,  yesterday our vacuum broke, keeping us from completely some morning chores. It was fixed by the afternoon, but I guess the slight anxiety from the morning had carried over for her :)

While none of us have walked in our sleep before, we have talked in our sleep :) About three years ago, Leia and I were sharing a bunkbed in what used to be the old nursery. We used to listen to music while we went to sleep (I don't remember why) and I really, really liked it. One morning, I woke up to hear the music still playing! Odd, since I knew that the tape was too short to run for eight hours. When Leia woke up, I asked her if she knew why the music was still playing. She gave me a strange look, then told me this:

Earlier that morning, probably around 4 or 5am, she woke up to see me staring her in the face (I was hanging over the side of my top bunk) and ordering her in a very loud voice to "TURN ON THE MUSIC!!! TURN ON THE MUSIC!!!" Then I flopped back onto my bed. Leia said she lay there absolutely petrified for about five minutes, then jumped out of bed, slammed on the player and jumped back in bed and lay still.
After she told me all that, I apologized for scaring her so badly, but we did have a good laugh over it :)

Do any of y'all have funny sleepwalking/talking stories?

{hola! como esta?}

My brain is fried. I asked Mama for free computer time because I could not concentrate much longer on my school work, even though it's just Vocabulary. I *cannot* even begin to think about Latin prefixes, suffixes and roots right now...not with Spanish whirling around in my head. I even put The Princess Bride soundtrack on to see if that would clear my brain. Haha. I just put on "Little Old Lady from Pasadena", that helped some :)

Reason why I'm fried? I just attended my very first class in a group setting other than the homeschool co-op we used to do. The difference with this one is that it's college level Spanish at our local community college. I'm almost 100% sure I'm the youngest in the room. A lovely girl named Caroline came up and introduced herself after class, she's sixteen, so maybe I'm not so alone as I thought :)

Don't get me wrong, the class was terrific. Our teacher is an amiable, funny, self-controlled Colombian native who knows how to run a class. I'm going to LOVE this semester! It's just a lot, a little overwhelming, and my legs feel like putty still....even though the class ended at 3:10pm.

I have a lot of homework, Spanish will require one hour AT MINIMUM each day, plus the online writing course I'm taking from Mrs. Gorby and my normal schoolwork load, but hey, it's all worth it! Especially if I come away fluent (fluent enough for my level) in a foreign language (other than Openglopish and Igpay Atinlay, which don't *exactly* count) and really close to my crazy end-of-the-school-year goal!

Thanks for your prayers, and keep them up! I'm going to need it...and, so as not to sound too selfish, if any of y'all have prayer concerns you'd like me to lift up to the Father, please let me know! If prayer makes me feel strengthened, then I want to help y'all feel that way too :)

*sigh* Since I haven't actually done the homework yet, I do have at least one hour of school left in today. Oh, and did I mention that my class is Mondays AND Wednesdays? :)

Blessings, and good luck to all of y'all who started school today!

~Jo~

{the start of a school year}

School has begun! We started Monday. So far, the work load has not killed me yet :P

After our traditional everybody-together-for-candy-and-yeah! in the early morning, Leia and I retired up to our bedroom closet (10' by 12') which we recently turned into our own little study. We took zillions of pictures of each other, trying to get a decent one or two :) Here are some Leia took of me:

I'm not sure what kind of look this is :)

This one is pretty good

Everyone thinks I look like Julia in this one :)
