good friday

The day our sweet Savior gave up His life so that we could live.

It was terrible. There was nothing clean or dignified about His death. There was blood. There was mess. There was intense and excruciating pain and suffering.

And I am so grateful.

And He did it because He loves us. Because He loves me. All that.

"We love Him because He first loved us."

  1. Amen! I am so grateful for His love, at such cost to Himself. But He did it willingly, in love. And by His death, we now live. Thank you Lord Jesus! I love you!

    Happy Easter/Resurrection Week!

  2. Sometimes I feel really bad because I know how much I don't get it. Thanks for making me think about His passion - for us - again. Have you ever heard of "hematidrosis"? It added some depth to my understanding of Jesus' suffering. Look it up on Wikipedia, if you haven't.

  3. Amen, dear! I was going to add something, but there's not much to add! :)

  4. Thanks, Jo! I learned somewhere that he was whipped and abused so much that he was unrecognizable. That had to have been extremely painful. Yet he wanted to do it. I find that really hard to get my mind around.
    BTW, what movie/s is/are that/those?

  5. {Siah} - They're from The Passion of the Christ, that really famous Mel Gibson film about the last day of Jesus' life. Powerful.
